UKF NEWS
11th April 2006

First of all, appologies for the lack of news since the 27th. Its just been a rather hectice few weeks in the real world for all of the UKF team, as well as being busy on a few of our current projects. Never-the-less here is a quick news item to keep you all going till I have something more substantial to show you.

The first item of news is our UKF Affiliation Project. Essentially if you or your squad use our addons in your missions (be they multiplayer, single player) or you generally have a operation flashpoint site dedicated to the british side of things then we want to create an archive of all those sites on our site here. The idea behind this project is that someone who stumbles across our addons for the first time would have a long list of websites where they can get SP missions to tinker with, and a selection of Multiplayer squads they can join to enjoy our addons to their full potential. If you're interested, as a few squads already have been, please post the relevant imformation in THIS THREAD. Once we have enough squads and sites listed, we will be creating an 'Affiliation' section to the site, and posting news on our front page about it.

Second bit of news is the progress being made on the Wolf Land Rovers. Whilst there is a fair bit of work to be done on the hardtop versions and some of the other versions that you'll have to wait to see yet, the Battlefield Ambulance (Pulse) has come on leaps and bounds. Thanks to alot of nifty scripting here and there, and some incredible anims from our animator Shifty, this should be a nice little addition to the wolf pack, as well as any OFP squad's list of assets. They say a picture paints a thousand words, so here you go  Wink

UKF NEWS
27th March 2006

So another week, and a little bit more to chat about. Things have been going from strength to strength recently, with many projects entering their final MP testing, and others seeing first light ingame. We're not going to tell you which, but I'm sure if you keep and eye out on our signature banners there should be a few new pictures for you to view. We'll have news on those projects when its time.

We also appologise for the last batch of news for not showing any images of the Scorpion CVRT (There were many images taken, and the best selected for the news post, I just hadn't realised that there were no Scorpions in the pictures). So to make up for my mistake, here are a couple of ingame promos of the CVRT Scorpion. Please note that these are obviously still beta images, and that the untextured areas have since been completed. Better late than never!

On top of that we would also like to release a quick video on one of my personal favourite projects (but perhaps I'm a little biased). The video shows the Armoured Land Rover 'Snatch' being put through its paces. The video's been sitting on my HD for a while now, so a few alterations have been made to the final product, but I thought you all deserved to see it as well. Enjoy!

On the very final note (A bit of a long news item this, hey?) UKF are also advertising for a new position amongst the team. For a while now, we've been without anyone who's a dedicated scripter. During this time we've been relying on the gracious efforts of our combined scripting knowledge, and the kind help from friends and affilates like Killswitch and HateR_Kint.

JOIN THE TEAM

UKF require someone who has the time and skills to help create, refine and come up with new and wonderful scripts for UKF to use in our projects. Examples of past work are a requirement. Should be experienced in Multiplayer Compatability, Drop Commands, Particle Effects and all sorts of weird and wonderful things that Flashpoint has never seen before. If you feel that you are up for the task, then please contact myself on the forums via IM.

And with that said, good morning, good afternoon and good night!  Grin

UKF NEWS
16th March 2006

Again another week of news!

Continuing our weekly updates, today we're showcasing CVRT Pack 1, which contains the Scimitar and Scorpion. This pack started life as a Scorpion addon being made by Bennyboy, many of you may remember the thread in the off topic section (it's still there!).  BennyBoy joined UKF on the back of the work he put into this addon and since then it has expanded to be the base model for most of the range of CVRT vehicles being made by UKF.

The Scorpion was the backbone of the CVRT series, but is no longer in use with British forces, in fact around 9 or 10 vehicles (if you count prototypes) sprung up from the Scorpion hull. The Scorpion proved very successful, it had renowned low ground pressure tracks, and was even deployed during the Falklands conflict where boggy terrain and bad conditions would have prevented any other amour from operating.

The Scorpion fired a 76mm Shell, in HEAT, HESH, and cannister (like a large shotgun round) meaning it could pack a punch.

Many Scorpions were upgraded to have a fox turret, complete with 30mm Rarden canon and a chaingun fitted, these became Sabres.  The Sabre has been all but superceded by the Scimitar (However, for clarity, the Scimitar was in service before the Sabre), which has a custom turret built around the 30mm rarden and an L946A1 machine gun fitted.

CVRT Pack 1 includes the following:

FV 101 (Scorpion) NATO {green/black}
FV 101 (Scorpion) Op Granby

FV 107 (Scimitar) NATO {green/black}
FV 107 (Scimitar) Op Granby
FV 107 (Scimitar) Op Telic - Assault
FV 107 (Scimitar) Op Telic - RPG Screened
FV 107 (Scimitar) Winterised
FV 107 (Scimitar) UN
FV 107 (Scimitar) Forward Recce

A number of other variants will also be released with the pack but will not be disclosed until then. So for now you'll have to make do with some screenshots of the Scimitars  Grin

UKF NEWS
6th March 2006

As promised, another news blog for all you lot. The last week has seen a rather large increase in the usage of our forums and website. We hope this was due to the release of our last news post and the pictures that appeared with it, and that you all liked what you saw. The feedback has been very encouraging and helpful on all accounts. Cheers guys!

UKF behind the scenes work has been on going - bug squashing is currently a very popular pastime amongst the team, as well as thinking up new toys to play with. One such toy is the updated Warrior pack we last showed images of a long time ago. Rest assured this project has been going through masses of changes and improvements over the original release, spurred on by Orsons incredible eye for detail and talent, and a large amount of time put into the coding and scripting by Bennyboy and swift88. We love what they've managed to achieve, and I think you'll all be as pleased as we are  Cheesy.

Our intention with the second pack is to create a comprehensive line up of warrior vehicles, simulating different operational conditions, as well as versions replicating those Warriors seen in recent action in Iraq. There's been a complete rework of textures and almost an entire new model, as well as many scripting additions and improvements. The pack currently boasts over 13 different models, each in different paint schemes, adding the 510 ISV (Infantry Section Vehicle), 511 ICV (Infantry Command Vehicle), 512 MCRV (Mechanised Combat Repair Vehicle ) and the 514 MAOV (Mechanised Artillery Observation Vehicle).

Enjoy!
